The 80th Midwest Gilderhus Reunion was held Sunday, SEPTEMBER 27th, 2009 at Liberty Church, Deerfield, WI (15 miles East of Madison). There was a Pot-Luck at the Liberty Church Education Center (The limestone used to build the church across the street came from the Gilderhus Quarry). Harry and Virginia Papke shared excerpts on the Johnson Chair Company from the Vesterheim Museum semi-annual magazine (2008 Vol 6, No. 2, pg 11) (http://vesterheim.org). Mary Gjermo reminded us that we purchased a spot on the Ellis Island Wall of Honor for Nils Gilderhus. Search it online for yourself. It was suggested by Arlene that we have 2 signatures on file with the bank for access to the Gilderhus account. We nominated Ruth Tiffany to add her signature. Harry shared news of births, marriages and deaths from all of the immigrating lines. Updates from others unable to attend were also shared.
