Friday, Sept. 26 we started in Decorah, Iowa with a tour at the Vesterheim Norwegian Museum. Saturday and Sunday we met in Deerfield/Madison, WI. The kids visited the Corn Maze and farm park nearby while the adults enjoyed a presentation, toured Gilderhus farmstead sites, and visited the Historical Museum in Cambridge. We had a traditional Nordic meal in meatballs, lefse, and pickled herring followed by an open "show and tell". Pot luck was held on Sunday after church service and photos. After lunch, people shared reunion memories and concluded with the business meeting.

The 85th Gilderhus Lag Reunion was held September 27th & 28th, 2014, at St. Paul’s Liberty Church, rural Deerfield, Wisconsin. There was a “Pre-gathering” of relatives on Friday, September 26th, as 11 relatives toured the Vesterheim Museum learning more about our Norwegian heritage.
The full reunion kicked off in full mode on Saturday when around 40 members toured the original homestead’s of our ancestors. Members from the various lines read information about the ancestor and there was also much discussion and memories shared with one another.
Following the tour everyone enjoyed a traditional Norwegian dinner of meatballs, lefse and pickled herring. Several relative brought pictures and items to share and their remembrances of past reunions. Loraine Houkinson from the Historical Society spoke on the Norweigian Emmigration. She reviewed several resource books on the history of emigration to the US
On Sunday, September 28th around 40 relatives gathered for group pictures followed by a potluck lunch and sharing of more memories. (Please note some people were only able to attend Saturday, and some only able to attend Sunday. Over the weekend there were approximately 60 different relatives.
President Paul Bellrichard opened the meeting thanking the committee for their hard work making the entire weekend possible. Thank you so much! The informal photos will be available to purchase from the Gilderhus website. Thank you to Kentaro Yamada, the photographer.

The Secretary and Treasurer’s Reports were given. The Treasury currently ahs $838.21. Motion by Ruth, seconded by LaVonne to accept the reports.
Cindy Bellrichard reported the Birth and deaths in the lag. She also shared a letter from Emmy Roorda in Ypsilanti ND inviting relatives to come see where Nils and Tosten are buried. She would be willing to help plan and coordinate details.
We are need of a volunteer to take over the Historian position from the Papkes. Mary will try to get copies before they move

The 86th Gilderhus Lag will be held Sunday September 27th at St. Paul’s Liberty Church Fellowship Hall.
Discussion was held on getting the lineage online at the Gilderhus website. We will also have the mailing list at next year’s reunion to try and update. It was noted to check out Gravesite.com to find more information.
