The 89th Gilderhus Lag Reunion was held Saturday, September 29th at the St. Paul’s Liberty Church Fellowship Hall with 36 relatives gathering for a potluck at noon.
We enjoyed visiting and catching up on events of the past year. A group picture was taken following the meal.
President Caroline Lee opened the meeting with a welcome to all of the relatives, introducing the newest clan. The Secretary’s report and Births, Marriages and deaths report were given. The Treasurer’s Report was given. The Treasury currently has $249.
Caroline shared special remembrance of a few of our members who recently past.
Special greetings from the Erik Lee Family.
Old News: Gary, Nancy, Mary, Martha F. volunteered to form a Historian committee. We need to get the various books and articles secured in one safe location. They will also ask Franklin to join the committee. Mark Papke will be scanning the Gilderhus Information that his parents had gathered.
New News: There will be an open house November 10 celebrating Arlene Scheel’s 90th Birthday. Gary was quite disappointed there weren’t any brownies and asked they be at next year’s gathering.
Motion by Erik Egeland, seconded by Mary Gjermo to elect the following slate of Officers:
President: Caroline Lee
Vice President: Eric Egeland
Treasurer: Arlene Scheel (Arlene will check with Kaia about being new Treasurer)
Secretary: Cindy Bellrichard
Next year’s reunion will be at Liberty Church Fellowship Hall on Saturday, September 28th.
Meeting Adjourned
Following the meeting we were privileged to view the Koshkonong Praire Historical Society’s new film, “Kaskeland”. The professionally made movie shared the history of the settle of the area and the people who were a part of it, including our Gilderhus descendants. There remains a few edits and the film will hopefully be for sale soon. Thank you to Mary for her involvement to get this made.
Respectfully Submitted,
Cindy Bellrichard, Secretary
